New Studio

It’s been a labour of love making my new shed / studio. It’ll remind me of how I managed to do something positive during lockdown as well as giving me a push towards getting back on track with my painting ambitions. I love being a teacher, but I love making art more!

Here are my basic plans. I’m no woodworker but it wanted to make sure that I stuck to a plan.

All that hard work means that I now have an area of my own to paint in, although my wife seems to like it too!

Here’s to many happy hours painting, creating and watching the birds 🙂

Drawings

I bought some new pencils and watercolours this week. Felt like Christmas coming early! The school break has allowed me to do plenty of drawing rather than teach it, so here are some of the fruits of my labour…

Girls

I’ve recently started paintings that feature girls in them. More specifically, my daughters. For years I’ve painted about the influence that my father and grandfather had on me, but I’m a proud Dad to two daughters and think that painting is a good way to teach them a little about what I know. They’re also beautiful, so they make great subjects! Here are a few images that I’ve been working on during the past couple of weeks:
